Seasons & Flux

Storm Sketch January 2011

So another year begins, and with its inception the La Nina phenomenon continues to bestow its mixed blessings and curses upon this part of the world. In some parts of this southern continent,  devastating floods have exacted a horrible toll, while in other locales much-needed rain has slaked the thirst of long thirsty dams and reservoirs.

Closer to my home, holiday crowds, awe-inspiring skies, cleansing rains, stiff easterlies, stinging bluebottles and shifting sandbanks offering both pain and pleasure to the unwary and experienced alike have been the order of these recent days, weeks and months.

Here, all is in a state of perpetual flux, as it has always been.
