Skyward

7:30am: pairs of teenage girls wander expectantly, Warhol's big screen flashes Red, Green and Blue, corporate standards impale the sand but the bigtop fails to pierce the sky. The empty bandstand faces inland, while behind it it's two, maybe three, feet onshore and closing out. 1.5 turns to the beach . . .  if you are lucky. Perhaps looking skyward is the only option in such conditions, though the liquid jump ramps are barely up to the task. The circus has arrived.
